IPEKA Celebrates 45th Anniversary with Charity Performance: Ebenezer The Musical

Featuring the Talents of 450 IPEKA Students, Ebenezer The Musical Witnessed by 4,500 Audiences

Yayasan Iman, Pengharapan dan Kasih (IPEKA) celebrated its 45th anniversary by conducting a musical theater performance titled 'Ebenezer The Musical'. This charity performance was held on Saturday, October 19, 2024 at Istora Senayan and was attended by around 4,500 audiences.

IPEKA Foundation started IPEKA Christian School for the first time on July 16, 1979. This year, the IPEKA Foundation has more than 11,500 students and 1,300 teachers spread across 16 school locations in Jakarta, Tangerang, Bekasi, Palembang, Balikpapan, and Makassar. During these 45 years, IPEKA students have made many achievements nationally and internationally.

IPEKA Foundation is committed to providing quality Christian education to prepare future Christian leaders. IPEKA prepares young people who not only excel academically but also have excellent character.

“Ebenezer has a meaning of a stone of help, the peak of this anniversary celebration we hope can be a moment for IPEKA to give thanks for all God's goodness and help during IPEKA's 45-year journey, and at the same time as a tangible manifestation of IPEKA's commitment to further contribute to the progress and equity of education throughout Indonesia,” said CEO of IPEKA Christian School, Rev. Handojo.

Ebenezer The Musical charity performance was supported by a total of 450 performers consisting of students, teachers, and staff from all IPEKA school locations. Proceeds from ticket sales and profits from the performance will be channeled to support the improvement of educational infrastructure at SMAS Kristen Waikabubak in West Sumba and SD Kristen Banyumas in Central Java, providing better learning facilities for students.

The preparation for Ebenezer The Musical has been a long process. Starting from March 2024 with the casting of the cast to students and teachers from all IPEKA school locations. After that, dozens of rehearsals and recordings were conducted to finalize the show.

Ebenezer The Musical features various talent performances from IPEKA students including Orchestra, Band, Choir, Dance, and Theater. At this theater performance, IPEKA's family together gave thanks and strengthened the spirit of togetherness.

Ebenezer The Musical tells the story of the journey of a high school student named Erika, who struggles with the pressures of life. Pressured by her parents' expectations and the demands of school, she almost gave up. But even in the midst of the darkest times, God is always there for her to hold on to in His unexpected ways.

Ebenezer The Musical is produced and directed by Rev. Joseph Moris, a man devoted to the arts and theology. Some of Rev. Joseph Moris' previous theater works include “Violet: A Different Color” (2023), ‘Sesak!’ (2023), and ‘Idealita’ (2023). He is also a talented composer and orchestrator.
“This charity performance is a celebration of the talents of IPEKA students and our commitment to support Christian education. May IPEKA continue to grow and develop, becoming a blessing for the advancement of education in Indonesia,” concluded Rev. Handojo.
