Students Exchange Program, IICS vs Odsherreds Efterskole (Denmark)

In October 2019, 20 of us, IICS Senior High students got the chance to visit Denmark for a student exchange program that we are forever grateful for. It was the first student exchange program that our school made with the sister school, Odsherreds Efterskole.  We were hesitant to join at first and, truth be told, we were intimidated of what the trip would be like. None of us had any clue what the exchange program would be like. Turns out, it was one of the best school trips we had ever experienced.  This program has encouraged us to make new friends that have different cultures and mindsets. It has also taught as new things that you cannot find here, in Jakarta.  The lessons that we experienced in Odsherreds Efterskole was very interactive and fun. Not only that, we also learned a lot about Danish culture from our buddies/host. At first, it was quite hard to socialize. Some of us did not know what to talk about. We were simply nervous. After some time, we started talking to our Danish friends, comfortably, as if they were our friends for a long time. Whether it was about our cultural differences, what we thought of Denmark, or other things, our conversations made us grow closer in the 8 days we were there. They made our stay in Denmark very enjoyable and they were very welcoming and friendly.  Though we are now thousands of miles apart, the memories and experiences that we shared in that week will never be forgotten. Some of us are still in contact with the host nd it was truly an experience like no other. We hope that their visit in January 2020 would make us even closer and put an impact in our lives.
