Becoming the Real Me: Grade 7 School Retreat Highlights

The Grade 7 School Retreat titled “The Real Me” became a meaningful milestone for our students as they explored their true identity through worship, reflection, and fellowship. As a Christian school committed to spiritual formation, IICS designed this retreat to help students understand who they are in Christ — God’s masterpiece. God created them with love, intention, and purpose, as Ephesians 2 declares.

Throughout the retreat, students participated in sessions that encouraged them to look beyond academic achievements or social expectations. These few yet strong retreat sessions also guided them to discover their identity as children of God. Through moments of quiet reflection, heartfelt worship, and honest conversations with peers and mentors, students learned that their value does not come from performance, perfection, or comparison, but from God’s unconditional love.

The retreat also strengthened community bonds. Sharing stories, praying together, and engaging in group activities helped students see that they are not alone in their struggles or questions. Many expressed that this school retreat gave them a safe space to open up, reconnect with their faith, and feel supported by their friends and teachers.

As a Christian school, IICS believes that spiritual growth is foundational to character development. This Grade 7 retreat allowed students to embrace qualities such as gratitude, humility, and compassion. They returned with renewed confidence, knowing that their identity is secure in Christ and that they have a purpose uniquely designed by God.

“The Real Me” reminds every student that they are created beautifully and intentionally. More than an event, this retreat marked the beginning of a deeper journey of faith, self-awareness, and transformation. May each student continue walking confidently in God’s calling, living out their identity with joy and courage.
