Exploring Real-World Knowledge at IICS DP1 TOK Exhibition 2025
IPEKA INTEGRATED Christian School (IICS) Senior High held its DP1 Theory of Knowledge (TOK) Exhibition. It is an essential academic milestone within the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme. This event encouraged students to demonstrate their understanding of how knowledge connects to the world around them, using real-world objects and personal insights.
The TOK Exhibition challenges Grade 11 (DP1) students to respond to one of 35 prescribed prompts from the IB curriculum. Firstly, each student selected a prompt and presented three curated objects that reflected the prompt in a personal or societal context. These objects sparked critical thinking and rich conversations about how people construct, interpret, and share knowledge.
The exhibition offered a vibrant intellectual environment. Teachers and peers visited each student’s display, engaging in discussions that bridged abstract theory and real-world relevance.
Unlike traditional exams, the TOK Exhibition allows students to actively apply TOK concepts in meaningful, tangible ways. It encourages learners to consider multiple perspectives, question assumptions, and understand the cultural and ethical dimensions of knowledge.
By participating in this exhibition, IICS students not only fulfill a core requirement of the IB Diploma. Above all, it strengthen key skills such as communication, inquiry, and reflection. Therefore, the process helps them actively showcase their learning and connect it to real-world relevance beyond the classroom walls.
As a Christian school rhat is committed to holistic education, IICS sees the TOK Exhibition as more than just an academic requirement—it is also a platform for students to grow as thoughtful, ethical individuals who are prepared to navigate the complexities of a globalized world.
At IICS, learning is not limited to textbooks; it is an active exploration of ideas, identity, and impact.
