IICS Celebrates Kartini Day

IICS Celebrates Kartini Day

Kartini Day is an Indonesian holiday that was established by the first Indonesian president, Soekarno, in 1964. Every year on April 21, the birthday of Raden Adjeng Kartini, it takes place (fondly referred to as Ibu Kartini or Mother Kartini). Indonesians honor Kartini's life and the progress she made toward the emansipasi (emancipation) of women in the country on this day.

IICS Junior High students celebrate Kartini Day through several events such as Talkshow with Precious One, Traditional Snack Decoration, Meme Competition, Kartini Makeover, and taking Group Picture. This year, they celebrate Kartini Day with the theme “Shine” with the hope that every student can be a light and hope for others.

As R.A. Kartini said, “Many things can bring you down, but the only thing that can really bring you down is your own attitude.”

Happy Kartini Day to all Indonesian women. Let's continue to be an inspiration for our nation.
