Y9 Camping

Y9 Camping

As a part of the IICS yearly program, the Year Nine students went on a camping trip to the Jeep Station Resort in Bogor from Wednesday October 30 until Friday November 1. It was a very fun experience in which the students were able to come out of their comfort zone to experience new things, as well as creating strong bonds with each other.

The three-day journey began with the students riding ‘angkots’ to the resort. For some students, this was their very first experience. The highlight of the first day of the camping was the survival skill challenge, which required the students to cook their own dinner from scratch; they even needed to set up their own traditional stoves from wood!

On the second day, the students participated in team building activities and then had a chance to experience off road car riding. Some of them were shy and scared at first, but once they tried it, they could not stop! In the evening, the students were given a chance to perform in the talent show which was very entertaining and fun. There were many hidden talents discovered on that night, including standup comedy to beat boxing. Our evening came to a close with a bonfire. Everyone had so much fun bonding with each other around the fire while enjoying some traditional foods.

On the third day, the students went for a hiking and explored the beautiful paddy field. The long and winding journey was made fun with the presence of friends, beautiful views and also fresh air. In conclusion, the camping was a great experience for the students. They developed not only leadership skills but also stronger bonds with their friends. Last but not least, they were also refreshed spiritually through the evening services.
